dream / indie
Manorism is the dream pop passion project of south east Melbourne crooners Shantanu Joshi, Hai Nguyen, Damien Kalauarchchi and Stanislav Likane. After playing in various punk and jazz arrangements together, Manorism came together after Shantanu had a dream about a tidal wave approaching him as he stood on the beach, amidst a storm in early 2014. Their first song Takes Me In was written about it, and fuelled their dreamy, synth heavy, post punk revival motif.
The band spent their early years playing house parties, travelling, recording in and out of various studios, discovering their sound and taming the endless ideas in their heads. They spent most of their time in bedrooms and garages, producing and recording their music, spending hours twiddling with synths and searching for the perfect gated reverb snare sound. In their down time, the boys would find themselves skating and riding through the streets of South East Melbourne, contemplating heartbreak & existentialism.
Last year saw an exciting leg of shows and selection for the GRID Artist Development Series. The band is now bunkered down in their home studio working hard at their debut release. Letter on My Wall marks a turning point in the band's direction, firming up their sound and taking a leap in production and confidence.

"Hits hard in the feels. Makes my soul yearn more than when I crave a zinger box (remove the potato and gravy, upgrade that to large chips thanks)"
